Welcome to Pixburgh N’at!
Fellow journalist, Sarah Vinski and I got the idea to start a Pittsburgh-centric blog to get us back into thinking like journalists. We both worked at The Pitt News together. She was a photo editor, and I was a news editor. So, that’s what you can expect from this blog: photos from around tahn n’at.
Sarah and I are both furill (for real) Pittsburgh girls who hail from Shaler Area, so our Pittsburghese isn’t that thick — or maybe we just redd up our speech right quick. If you’d like to learn more about Pittsburghese check out the Wikipedia article and this nifty Pittsburghese translator. The translator is a lot of fun but sometimes it splices words. It this the challenging speech lesson from “My Fair Lady”: “In Hertford, Hereford and Hampshire, hurricanes hardly ever happen.”
And made this: “In Hertford, Hereford and chipped chopped ham pshire, hurricanes hardly ever happen.”
Well, thanks for stopping by!
